Maryna Mincheva

Next Generation Defense Analyst, Security & Defence Unit (S&D) • Maryna is a policy researcher specialising in European security and defence transformation, with a particular focus on changes since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. She studied Political Science at the University of Bologna and is currently completing her Master’s degree in International Relations at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, Germany. Her professional interests centre on the EU’s evolving role as a security actor, institutional adaptation, and the gap between European defence ambitions and their practical implementation. Originally from Ukraine, she brings a first-hand perspective on the region and draws particular attention to how Ukraine’s wartime experience, especially in dual-use technologies and defence innovation, can inform European capability development. Maryna is fluent in Ukrainian, Russian, English, and German.
