Andalusia Election 2026: Conservatives Hold Power

Spain’s 2026 Andalusian regional election delivered a nominal victory for the centre-right Popular Party (PP), but losing 5 seats leaves them short of an absolute majority and dependent on the far-right Vox (15 seats) to govern (the exact outcome they campaigned to avoid).

While the Socialist Party (PSOE) fell by just 2 seats, finishing at a historic low of 28 seats represents a structural collapse in what has traditionally been their stronghold. For the left, the result’s momentum belonged to the left-wing Andalusian nationalist party Adelante Andalucía, who grew to 8 seats.

The results also saw a sharp rise in voter turnout to 61.9%. The fall of a traditional bi-party landscape and fracturing political dynamics are what is setting the stage for Spain’s future national elections.
